Dr. Terri Vrabel Professional Biography: Education: Baylor University, BA University of New Mexico, MA University of North Texas, ED.D. I began my educational career in Belen, New Mexico teaching third and fourth grades. While teaching, I served as department coordinator, wrote elementary math curriculum for the district, and served as the coordinator for the Reading is Fundamental program for my school. After nine years of teaching, I changed my educational focus and became a junior high school librarian in Belen. Two years later, I moved to Grapevine, Texas and became the librarian at Grapevine Middle School. I served in that school for eight years. I then served as librarian of Grapevine Junior High School for six years before coming to Colleyville Heritage. While in this district, I have participated in planning the renovation of the Grapevine Middle School Library facility on Worth Street and the opening of two new libraries. I planned the collections for both the junior high and Colleyville Heritage High School. I have been a member of many campus, district, and library committees during my career. I have also served as a Southern Association Evaluator for Western Hills High School in Fort Worth, Texas. I am currently serving as Lead Librarian for the district. Educational Philosophy: I believe that it is important to provide educational opportunities in a variety of learning styles to meet the needs of every student. Because we want our students to be successful at problem solving, it is crucial that they be challenged to think critically and independently. In addition, students need to have the skills to continually acquire new information. As a librarian, I seek to help students successfully utilize all the research tools available in our media center to help them become life-long learners.
